  • Clermont State Historic Site

Restored mansion, visitor center, exhibit galleries, formal gardens, carriage trails, picnicking. Grounds open all year 8:30am- sunset. House open Apr. 1-Oct. 31, Tues.-Sun., 11am-5pm. Weekends through mid-Dec.
  • Clinton Exhibit Center
    Clinton Historical Society, PO Box 122, Clinton Corners, NY 12514. 266-5494 or -3819. Center located in a former Quaker Meeting House built in 1777. Weekends, May & Oct., art exhibit; 10am-4pm. July through mid-Sept. historic exhibit; 12-4 pm.
  • Mills Mansion State Historic Site
    Old Post Road, Staatsburg, NY 12580. 889-8851. The country home of Ogden and Ruth Livingston Mills, built in 1895-96 and furnished in the styles of Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI.   • Montgomery Place

  • Museum of Rhinebeck History

  • Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome Museum
    44 Stone Church Road, Rhinebeck, NY 12572. 758- 8610. Antique aircraft and automobiles on display and in action, air museums. Open May 15-Oct. 31, 7 days, 10am- 5pm. Weekend airshows, mid-Jun. thru mid- Oct., 2:30pm. Open cockpit bi-plane rides available before and after shows.
  • Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site

Film biography of “First Lady of the World”, guided tours of home, 180 acres of grounds, hiking trails. Access by private vehicle. Open 7 days, May-Oct. 9am-5pm.; weekends, Nov.-Apr.
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt Home National Historic Site
    c/o National Park Service, 519 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, NY 12538. 229-9115. Located on Route 9. Lifelong home of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, including gravesite and Rose Garden Area. Open 7 days, 9am-5pm. Closed Jan. 3-Mar. 10, 2000.
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt Library and Museum
    Route 9, Hyde Park, NY 12538. 800-FDR- VISIT. Contains extensive displays on the lives and careers of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt and exciting interactive exhibits.   • Samuel F. B. Morse Historic Site — Locust Grove

  • Olana
    Route 9G, Hudson, New York (518) 828-0135 . Hudson River artist Frederick Church's Moorish mansion. Mansion tours, scenic walks. Hours: Open May through October, Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
  • Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site
    c/o National Park Service, 519 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, NY 12538. 229-9115. Located on Route 9. Home of Frederick and Louise Vanderbilt, built between 1896 and 1898, representative of the “Gilded Age.” Grounds, trails, formal gardens and a spectacular view of the Hudson River.   • Wilderstein Preservation
    PO Box 383, Morton Road, Rhinebeck, NY 12572. 876-4818. 1888 Victorian home of three generations of the Suckley family, descendants of the Beekmans and Livingstons. Grounds designed in the American Romantic Landscape style by Calvert Vaux. Interiors and windows by J.B.Tiffany. Walking trails and views of the Hudson River, May-Oct., Thurs.-Sun., noon-4pm.   • Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve
    Tivoli Bays, Annandale, NY 12504. 758-7010. 1,700 acre reserve, managed as a wildlife management area and as a field laboratory for research and education about the Hudson River Estuary. Canoe the marsh, bicycle, observe wildlife or hike on one of five trails.
  • Hudson River Sloop Clearwater
    112 Market Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. 454-7673. The Clearwater sails the Hudson River conducting environmental educational programs and riverfront festivals. Call Mon.-Fri., 9am-5pm, for dates, times and locations of sloop.
  • Hudson Valley Raptor Center
    RR 1 Box 437B, South Road, Stanfordville, NY 12581. 758-6957. Meet eagles, hawks, falcons, vultures and owls face to face. Natural history programs and flying demonstrations with birds of prey. Open Apr.-Oct., Sat.-Sun., 1-4pm. Call for weekday hours.
  • Innisfree Garden
    RR 2, Box 38 A, Tyrrel Road, Millbrook, NY 12545. 677-8000. Innisfree Garden has been in the "under construction" for 60 years. A unique contribution to garden art in America, its design is influenced by a Chinese style dating back 1,000 years. It features a 40-acre lake surrounded by cliffs, low hills, waterfalls and streams. May 1-Oct. 20, Wed.-Fri., 10am-4pm; Sat.-Sun., 11am-5pm.
  • Institute of Ecosystem Studies: Mary Flagler Cary Arboretum
    Box R, Route 44A, Millbrook, NY 12545. 677-5359. Features public ecology programs, nature trails and plant collections, including tropical greenhouse. Visitor permits required (free at the Gifford House Visitor and Education Center). Mon.-Sat., 9am-4pm; Sun., 1-4pm; grounds close 6pm, Apr.-Sept.
